Merle Hunter Leadership Award Leadership can be found deep within the core of Kinder Krowns®. We began sponsoring the Merle Hunter Leadership award several years ago in commemoration of Tom Mayclin, the founder of Kinder Krowns®. From beginning his career as a dental technician to becoming a two term president of the Nation Association of Dental Laboratories in the mid 80’s, he established several patents in both adult crown and bridge work and pediatrics over his tenure. We are pleased to sponsor the Merle Hunter award on his behalf. We’re honored to continually support the Healthy Smiles Healthy Children and we’d like to thank the AAPD for another great annual meeting. About the Merle Hunter Leadership Award Established in 1998, this award is presented to an AAPD volunteer who has provided exemplary leadership service in the volunteer structure of the organization over the past year. The 2011 award recipient was Dr. Paul Nick Rogers. Dr. Paul “Nick” Rogers is the Affiliate Trustee representing the Affiliate Membership. Dr. Rogers’ additional dental activities include being a former member of the Kansas Dental Board, President of Kansas Society of Orthodontics for the General Practitioner, editor and President of Kansas Academy of General Dentistry, President of Southern District Dental Society. He has also received the Kansas Head Start Association Partner of the Year (2003), Sam Walton Business Leader Award (1997) and the Rotary Vocational Leadership Award (1995). Dr. Rogers, who maintains a private practice in Arkansas City, was recently appointed to the Governor’s Children’s Health Advisory Committee. He also administers Central Regional Dental Testing and is on their steering committee. Dr. Rogers was recently honored with the Martin Luther King Humanitarian Annual Award and the Arkansas City Chamber of Commerce Small Trade Achievement Recognition.
